17x18mm, 6.23g

The gold aureus was originally valued at 25 pure silver denarii and was issued from the 1st century BC to the early 4th century AD. Marcus Aurelius maintained the weight of the aureus from the time of Nero. The obverse of this example depicts the right facing, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Marcus Aurelius;
the reverse showing Providentia standing left, holding a globe and cornucopia.
Providentia is the Roman goddess of forethought and personifies the ability to foresee.

Centrally struck example with clear details.
