At Silbury Coins we have a combined knowledge of over 120 years dealing with coins & antiquities. This puts us in a fantastic position to offer a wide diversity of items for sale at the right prices. John Philpotts, Director of Silbury Coins is a member of the Royal Numismatic Society and Provisional Valuer for the Treasure Valuation Comittee, providing valuations, which are necessary for any finds of Treasure that a museum wishes to acquire and where a reward is to be paid to the finder and/or landowner, form the starting point for the Treasure Valuation Committee to consider a find and make a formal recommendation on its value to the Secretary of State. As you will see from our listings we mainly deal in historic coins, specializing in the British Iron Age, Roman, Anglo Saxon, Norman & Medieval periods. We also offer a small selection of carefully selected antiquities & ‘group lots’. Collecting Ancient coins is a great way of furthering your history knowledge.
We don’t have a shop but are always happy to meet customers who wish to buy or sell locally so that items can be viewed in hand & questions can be answered in person. We are based near Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds, called Corinium in Roman times & the second largest town in Britain with an Amputheatre, Forum and strong military presence. A great place to visit if you love history and we’d be happy to help you plan your trip! We also travel around the country on a regular basis so if you’d rather we come to you just ask. Opening Times
We endeavour to respond to all order requests within 24 hours. During the week, once payment has been received your order will generally be sent within 24 hours. We are often away from the office at the weekend but will be in touch on Monday to answer any enquires and dispatch any orders.
