We are excited to announce that part two fixed price listings are now available, exclusively on our website. One of the finest across-the-board collections of Ancient British coinage ever formed. A remarkable opportunity to secure pieces from this historic collection.
We have just launched a wide selection from The Charles Edward Noble Collection of Irish Emergency Gunmoney, struck during AD 1689-1691.
Irish Gunmoney was a temporary, base-metal emergency coinage issued in Ireland between 1689 and 1691 by King James II during the Williamite War. It was created due to a lack of silver and gold, James II needed more than £100,000 per month to fund his military campaign in Ireland against William of Orange. The coins were cast from a mix of brass and copper obtained from melted-down old cannons, church bells, and scrap metal. Each piece was marked with the month of issue and were intended to be redeemed for real silver once James II regained the throne (though redemption never happened in full).

Over the summer we have been busy cataloguing a large collection of ancient coins, formed by an avid collector over several decades. Gold coins from the late Roman & Byzantine era are now live, the bronze and silver coinage will appear online over the next few months.
