This coin comes with a rough find area provenance

Ecen was originally thought to be a tribal name although this is now considered to be doubtful. Ecen may be of Germanic origin and might mean ‘Oak master’. This may imply that Ecen was a druid, or religious leader as well as being a chieftain. It is thought that Ecen ruled alongside Antedios and possibly one other ruler.
