This week’s upload includes a wonderful penny of Edward the Martyr, murdered at Corfe Castle in Dorset in AD 978 together with other Anglo-Saxon pennies from various mints. Also worthy of mention is an amazing Edward VI shilling, graded by PCGS as ‘AU58’, it would be hard to find a better example. Lastly a couple of large gold coins recovered from 18th Century shipwrecks, the Douro and Clive of India, with their original certificates, great pieces of maritime history!

🌟 Diva Faustina Senior — Eternal Empress in Gold 🌟
Wife of Emperor Antoninus Pius, Faustina Senior was deified after her death in AD 141—just two years after becoming Augusta. Deeply revered, her legacy lives on in one of the largest and most elegant commemorative coinages of the Roman Empire.
💫 This exceptional Gold Aureus was struck in Rome, featuring a draped bust of Faustina facing right on the obverse, and Fortuna standing left on the reverse—holding a patera and a rudder on globe, symbols of divine guidance and fate.
A very fresh strike with little wear — lovely in hand.
💛 A rare, beautifully preserved piece of Roman imperial history. Faustina’s coins weren’t just currency—they were instruments of divine memory and dynastic strength.
📍 Available now – £4,500
