During Queen Anne`s reign (1702-1712) the gold Two Guineas coin was minted, continuing a tradition that began in the reign of Charles II.
Worth 42 shillings, it featured her portrait and reflected the evolving British economy. Queen Anne was the last of the Stuart dynasty and presided over key events like the War of the Spanish Succession, which established Britain as a major European power.
An imposing piece, most pleasing in hand. Two Guinea pieces of Queen Anne are especially hard to come by.
