Kretz, “The coinage of Rues”, BNJ 77, 2007:
Kretz Type B (‘Tablet/Griffin’): the tablet is commonly found on a number of relatively late Tasciovanos issues (e.g. VA 1780) and the two annulets are reminiscent of Dias (VA 1877). This is the only bronze of this design. It comes after Kretz Type A.
Tasciovanos is thought to have been related to Rues, Andoco and Dias(su). Rues coinage has a high tin content and no zinc, in line with the coinage of Cunobelin and much of Tasciovanos’s, but unlike Andoco and Dias who align with Tasciovanos’s second coinage. Rues might therefore sit after the latter with Tasciovanos’s third coinage, which like Rues’s features coins with a panel, griffin, lion and geometric designs.

Rues (c. AD 1–10?)
Probably a contemporary of Andoco and Dias, coins struck in the name of Rues are rare indeed. Like Andoco, the distribution of his coins focuses strongly in modern Hertfordshire. Issuing only bronzes, his coins are stylistically very similar to certain issues of both Andoco and Tasciovanos. Perhaps his most iconic type is the ‘Rues Griffin’ unit, depicting a griffin facing left on the reverse and his name on the obverse (RVIIS), set within a rectangular tablet (ABC 2757/BMC 1693–97).
