Hanniballianus was the younger brother of Delmatius and was also a grandson of the emperor Constantius. Constantine wishing to create a tetrarchic following his death elevated Hanniballianus along with Delmatius to Caesar in AD 334.
Both brothers were perceived to be a threat by the three remaining sons of Constantine. Following the sudden death of Constantine in AD 337 both brothers were murdered along with most of the other descendants of Constantius and Theodora.
