Jupiter sacrificing and holding sceptre

Rome

18mm, 2.78g

This coin is part of the Little Busby Hoard, discovered by a metal detectorist near Little Busby, North Yorkshire in June 2021. The hoard contained 392 Roman silver coins, spanning from the era of Mark Antony (31 BC) to that of Geta (AD 212). This coin comes with full provenance, verified by PAS record (YORYM‑B64A28), confirming both the find-spot and date of discovery. It is part of a well documented hoard, offering valuable insight into the Roman monetary system.

The hoard was declared Treasure, subsequently disclaimed then returned to the finder & landowner who chose to make the coins available to private collectors. We have produced an information booklet about the hoard, a copy of this will be sent with each coin and is also available online here. A detailed catalogue can also be viewed on the Portable Antiquities website here.
