Catuvellauni

The Catuvellauni were probably the largest tribe in Iron Age Britain, occupying a good central position with no coastal boundaries to defend from invasion. Tasciovanus followed by his son Cunobelin built a strong territory, the later coinage showing much Roman influence suggesting some sort of cooperation leading up to the Claudian invasion in 43A.D. St Albans (Verulamium) and Colchester (Camulodunum) were large centres during the successes of the Catuvellauni.
