Iron Age Lynch Pin Terminal 1st Century BC/AD
41x15mm, 30.19g

The lynch pin is a fastener used to prevent a wheel sliding off the axle on which it is riding. The lower terminal (this example), made of copper-alloy, would have been paired with an upper terminal, typically disc-shaped, also in bronze, both having an embedded iron shank which joins them together. The face of the terminal is decorated in this case with a pellet and ring.

Provenance will be provided.
