An lovely example of the Fleur-de-Lis type (1038-40AD), good metal & with a clear portrait.
Harold was the illegitimate successor to his father Cnut, and was appointed regent of England after the death of Cnut. His half-brother, Harthacnut, was the legitimate heir, but remained in Denmark for political reasons, taking over the kingdom of England in 1040AD.
